Major coverage interviews on Japanese mainstream magazine

Junon is a Japanese mainstream idol magazine which focus on popular Japanese idols. Out of an ordinary, three non-Japanese artists, Zai-zai, Yan Cheng Xu and Li Zhun Ji are going to be on the cover-page of its latest upcoming January edition. On this issue, major coverage interviews with Zai-zai and Yan Cheng Xu will be presented on cross-pages format, comparable to most local well-known Japanese idols. In addition to the two, Chu Xiao Tian also had an exclusive interview in Tokyo for the February edition of this magazine.

After boy band Little Tigers¡¨ dismissed in 1991, various types of boy bands emerged in the oriental region. Nevertheless, they were seldom able to make a furor throughout China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Asia at the same time. Not until the rises of F4 had boy bands become the focus of entertainment world again. There are many differences in between the Little Tigers and F4 on their success. The most important difference is F4's popularity was propagated by idol drama. However, they still have a common factor. That is, both bands got an aggressive lady back on them. For the Little Tigers, that's Miao Xiu Li, whereas, for F4, that's Chai Zhi Ping.

At the beginning, F4 could only buy cheap clothes

Yan Cheng Xu, it was a coincident that Chai Zhi Ping saw his photo; Zhou Yu Min, who came with a friend for audition; Chu Xiao Tian, a waiter worked in a BBQ restaurant; Wu Jian Hao, who ran into Chai's colleague. These four handsome sunny boys were recruited by Chai Zhi Ping for her Meteor Garden¡¨ TV series in February 2001. Later on, they began having the same name as they had in this drama, F4 (Flower boys). At first during filming, Chai Zhi Ping did not intend to group them into boy band. At that time, all of them were not wealthy.Chai Zhi Ping said, I remembered the first time I brought them to shop clothes. We did not have enough budgets so we can only buy cheap clothes. I urge them to do their best. If they become famous, they may have a chance to make records or even have world tour concerts.

Mainland China and Taiwan, both regions were obsessed with F4

The success of Meteor Garden rewards them with rocket flame. Both Chai Zhi Ping and F4 were so excited. Meteor Garden broadcast in 2001, when internet was well developed. Fans from Mainland China downloaded the drama through various means. They witnessed F4's success with the Taiwanese at the same time. During those years, many fans who like F4 said, other than interested in their handsome appearance, more importantly, this drama fulfill their dreams and fantasy.

Meteor Garden got Part II

Chai Zhi Ping realized the powerful influence of drama on boy bands. She decided to invest in Meteor Garden II¡¨ in April 2002. Since part I were so popular, Part II could even invited famous filmmaker Hou Xiao Xian to be the producer. Unfortunately after filming started, they encountered many problems, like changing directors for 3 times, Da S tried to resign from it. All these brought along with the rapid success of F4. They had to run for all kinds of commercial events between China and Taiwan, shooting numerous advertisements. Although F4 did not have long-term training like the Little Tigers, they were born in an open-minded decade. This further proves an old saying, the most important factor for the success of Chinese boy band is a matter of right timing. After Meteor Garden broadcast, F4 started have conflicts with Chai Zhi Ping's agency company due to disagreements on commission distribution. Their conflicts broaden as number of fans increased and got worst at the end of filming Meteor Garden II. Appeared mature yet innocent Yan Cheng Xu complained Chai Zhi Ping as the Vampire¡¨ on couple press conferences. Chai also geared her effort on Comic boys¨. Even-though both parties tried their best to liaison and compromise, F4's contract ended up being transferred to Fu Long under Yao Yi Jun on January 2003. This marked the beginning of their individual ventures.

The situation for F4 is better than a dying skinny camel

March 8, 2003, many presses reported that it was the last event F4 showed up together on the Pepsi Stars Charity Concert¨ held at Hong Kong Coliseum. July 2005, F4 were surprisingly found not set apart when they once again appeared together in Japan and announced the opening of their official Japanese Fan Club. Their situation is described as much better than a dying skinny camel¨. March 22nd to 25th , 2006, the four held 4 concerts in Hong Kong which still made a fruitful return. Will F4 be reunited? The key factor rests on their solo development. Currently they all accomplished certainly success individually. Notwithstanding this, they can always come back like many other foreign rock bands tens of years later. 5 years ago, 4 gorgerous males hit Asia and have made it big. This heavenly group is known as F4. 5 years later, the next popular group have arrived, Fahrenheit. The name Fahrenheit is due to the meaning of different temperatures, representing each member. 183Club just finished their promotions not long ago, and now it's Fahrenheits turn. On November 14th, Fahrenheit went to Bejing and attracted over 1000 fans to come support them .

The scene was just as crazy as 5 years ago when F4 had all the females scream and yell for them. Both groups are made up of 4 goodlooking males, both groups became well known and popular through their debut drama, "Meteor Garden" and "KO One." When seeing the chaos, Fahrenheit says: "We were afraid that there would be no one here, that no one knew of us. But seeing this makes us very happy."

Fahrenheit's management company is "Comic Ritz," and if you know of "Meteor Garden," then you should know of "Comic Ritz." This is the company that one-handed made F4 the kings of Asia, making them the most popular male group until this day. "Comic Ritz" is also the the company of F4's mother, AngieCai.

When comparing the 2 groups, there seems to be many similarities. Both groups became popular due to their idol-dramas, and every time Fahrenheit accepts any interviews, they are asked about the thoughts on the comparision between them and F4. Fahrenheit's repsonse is: "F4 is Asia's first male group, no one can take their place. Our boss is their producer, so in a sense they are our seniors. We need to learn a lot from them." Ever since the contract ended in 2001 for F4, AngieCai has been looking for new faces to create a new male group.

When speakng of their popularity wise, both groups have similiar experiences. In China, neither of the dramas "Meteor Garden" nor "KO One" were ever broadcasted, but more then 80% of the female fans have access to the internet to download the most popular and recent series, allowing them to know the 2 groups. During the function that day, the females fans were asked which other groups do they support, most of them answered "S.H.E and Katun." The females today are different then the females a few years ago. They were also asked what their opinion of F4 was, and they said that they dont like them because they are "too old." They like young, fresh and natural new faces.

Ever since the popularity of F4 hit Asia, male groups became a trend. Not only do the male groups star in dramas, they also sing and host as well. Take 183Club for example. This group has been the dreams of many females, and they have acted in "Prince Turned into Frog," "Le Robe De Mariage Des Cieux," "Magician Love" etc. They came to China to promote their CD not too long ago, and although they didnt attract as many fans as F4 or cause as much chaos, they still have won the hearts of many.

Since the time of Meteor Garden up to today, F4 has never reunited in front of the big screen, however yesterday our reporter has learned that F4 is in the course of preparing for a new drama. In the beginning of next year they will gather together again. In the past, there is quite a difference in between their remunerations, but it’s getting close to each other at present. Each of them are said to be a “Millionaire Bachelors”.

In the past they were ridiculed that, the value of their clothes were even incomparable to Da S’s expensive shoes. But then as the TV drama became so popular and wide spread across Asia, Yan Cheng Xu and Zhou Yu Min took a more favorable start with more invitations for drama and endorsements.

Zhi Xiang Li, manager in charge of F4’s propaganda indicated, in the wake of the popularity of the four members becoming distinct, Zhu Xiao Tian has chosen to go for the profoundly wayward or perhaps the naughty and artful style. As to Wu Jian Hao, he has taken a more energetic image. Furthermore the company has unceasingly provided lots of inputs to propagate their popularity and exposures for the last two years, which currently came out with apparent progress.
